Growth Groups and Bible Studies at Mt. Calvary:
We would like all our members and friends to pray about joining a growth group. Our goal is to have 70% of our average adult worshiping attendance to be part of a small group in our church.
The Basic Purpose: Growth groups exist to promote the development of significant Christian relationships centered around the study of God’s Word. You will meet nine times, but you can bail out of the first three weeks, no questions asked. It is like the lecture/lab experience in school. You meet to learn in church, you then meet in a small group to talk about what you have learned and how to apply it to your life.
What happens in a Growth Group?
Sharing: Each week, we will take time to share what is happening in our lives. At first this sharing will include some planned “sharing questions.” After the first few weeks, it will become more informal and personal as our group feels safer and more comfortable.
Study: Each week we’ll study a portion of God’s Word that relates to the previous weekend’s sermons. Our goal is to learn how to apply and live out our Christianity in our day to day experiences and relationships. This Winter we will be digging into the Book of Romans. Martin Luther read and taught the Book of Romans and changed the world.
Support: Each week, we’ll learn how to take care of one another as Christ commanded (See John 15:9 – 13). This care will take many forms, such as praying, listening, meeting needs, encouragement, and even challenging one another as needed.
